Indian Space Research Organization has launched its third lunar mission Chandrayaan 3

Chandrayaan 3 mission is scheduled to be launched on 14 July 2023 from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sri Harikota, India

This spacecraft will be sent into space by GSLV Mk III rocket.

Lander named Vikram is going to be used for soft landing, Vikram is named after vikram sarabhai

A rover will also be attached to the lander, which will explore the lunar surface, named Pragyan, a Sanskrit word meaning wisdom.

This Chandrayaan will carry instruments to study the lunar surface, atmosphere and geology

This moon mission is likely to last for 40 days

If successful, India will become the fourth country in the world to have landed a spacecraft on the moon, earlier in the world it was done by USA, Russia and China.

The total cost of this Chandrayaan 3 is 615 crores, the project director of the lunar mission is Veeramuthuvel
